My name is Maria and I welcome you to my happy place, a virtual place where I share travel experiences (in the cold and otherwise), scattered thoughts, stories from my city and reflections on books. I don't know if the list of places I would like to visit or books I would like to read is longer, the only certainty is that I always have a cup of tea in my hand.
The storage room under the stairs, a deliberately Potter-inspired name, was born from the need to escape from the frenzy of daily commitments and rely on the therapeutic power of writing. The choice of this name refers to the ability that books have to make us escape from a reality that we perceive as suffocating.
I love writing and sharing the atmospheres I create at home in Bologna and the places I discover around the world. I have a passion for the Nordic countries and in general countries with cold and rainy climates. I find the obligatory mechanisms of social media such as algorithms, as well as the restrictions of the characters of the captions, limiting and therefore I decided to open this blog that talks about travel and nice places, my love for Bologna, traditions from the world, cozy atmosphere , bookstores and books. Viaggiare in inverno o in autunno è una coccola per l'anima. Ammirare la natura che va in letargo, rifugiarsi al caldo nei caffè, nei musei, nelle librerie e godersi le atmosfere cozy, mentre fuori piove o nevica.
Perchè l'inverno?
"Mi sono affezionata all’inverno perché sento che è vero, non come l’estate che vola via e sembra così divertente e allegra ma non lo è, perché il sole è sempre di corsa e lascia tutti con l’amaro in bocca. L’inverno non pretende di confortare, ma in fin dei conti sento che è consolante, perché una si raggomitola su se stessa e si protegge e osserva e riflette, e credo che soltanto in questa stagione si possa pensare per davvero."
